so I’ve checked out some fansub review sites because I learn about translating from the examples that are given. it’s fascinating to see the different ways things can be translated, misunderstood, misconstrued etc. I’m a proponent of liberal translations as opposed to literal translation. but even then there are degrees of liberalness and I don’t support extreme liberal translations though it may depend on the the line, scene, show, etc.

The bloggers really know what they’re talking about with the translations. they’ll point out a translation that’s stilted or just doesn’t do the line justice and give their translation take on it. sometimes it’s a really good translation that I think I would never come up with.

I have no interest in the animes themselves though lol.

I got to see the episode of top runner (a music show where they interview the artist for 40 minutes or so) in HIGH quality starring MISS SHIINA RINGO (she’s divorced 😦 with child or children ) thanks to clubbox.
It was so much fun watching it. Fun is not the right word. I just really like this singer and iwant to find out more about her especially via tv shows. She doesn’t go on tv all that much and not all her past appearances on tv/radio are up online with streaming or on clubbox UNFORTUNATELY. this one is definitely worth watching for the shiina ringo fans. if your japanese is not up to par you might get screwed with understanding her lol. I had trouble understanding her at parts. It’s not the japanese AT ALL. I know all the japanese that she used to express herself. I’ve come acrossed all those phrases and sayings and whatnot. I know al lthat stuff inside out. the problem i don’t feel like i’m understanding what she’s saying. it’s not incompetency on my japanese part, I just find her hard to understand. I feel the need to rewatch/rehear stuff she says. I know what it means and everything but I feel like I’m not understanding it. You know this kind of stuff happens in my native language english too with people that just speak in this way that is not easy to understand for me (like what the hell does days of FUTURE PAST mean for x-men. no i don’t want to watch the movie to find out) . Or at least I feel like I’m not getting the complete picture or i’m unsure of my interpretation of what she said. By all means i’m saying she’s a horrible speaker or she talks enigmatically or anything like that. maybe we’re just not on similar wavelenths lol. The performances were amazing and I still don’t undersatnd the lyrics fully lol. the thing with her lyrics is that even japanese don’t undersatnd and there’s definitely multiple ways to interpret her lyrics. Maybe that is her goal or maybe it’s not.

so I enjoyed watching the PV and was able to catch random parts of the lyrics since it is sorta enka-ish with uncommon japanese. then i proceeded to watch the live performance which was amazing and the first time I saw it I was like I don’t understand this song lol… then the second time I watched it I realized I was just overwhelemed with the all the furigana and hiragana that doesn’t match what she’s singing… you know how in japanese they read kanji or hiragana differently from what it’s usually read. some examples…hmmm.

and for shiina ringo with the song ishiki or kuki there’s all these strange hiragana combo with the verbs that looks weird but it’s actually common ex 言ふ　 is read as いう it just looks weird but it’s pronunced normally. I think it has to do with archaic japanese and how they used to write it or read it like whatever.

so the 3rd time I watched it I was like oh this song’s pretty easy to understand lol. of course there’s still words I don’t know but I don’t feel like looking them up.

I just looked up one thing and oh boy there’s double meaning! that’s cool 😉

Lots of interesting talk in the episode. I found it really interesting about the 9/11 thing because I didn’t know that was she was deeply affected by it and that a song was created because of 9/11… it’s news that was heard around the world so in that it’s not a big surprise. ever since she said oh because of 9/11 this songw was created I went to find out about songs MADE by japanese artists because of 9/11. there’s a bunch . I was surprised that the song by hito to yo something (the singer that speaks english, mandarin ? , and japanese) . tsudukemasu yoni was inspired by 9/11. I’ve heard it so many times on japanese tv, etc. It’s a famous song. I’ve heard them introduce the song but i never heard of the 9/11 thing. I want to look into more songs created from 9/11. by all means i mean it in the most positiv eway possible. I loved what shiina ringo said about her music and what she could do with it to be of help in anyway to 9/11 etc… spreading message of love or hope etc.. Music is wonderful like that. I loved the spiel she just spilled about 9/11, the difference her music can make, etc.

I don’t remember clearly but I think she said she considered retiring from music after having her child and then 9/11 happened…. anyways great episode, recommend to all shiina ringo lovers who understand japanese.

she also released her cover of yoake no uta for the shinsai / earthquake disaster in march 2011. ( the year is right?)

So instead of writing a longass comprehensible blog entry about sentence-mining, immersion, anki-card format etc I’m gonna write about 2 words I came across recently. I’ve seen those blog posts and they always point out really obvious duh crap (probably to fill out the numbers 1.2.3.4.5..5 reminds me of top 5 anime threads which are just full of awful anime lol)… it’s so dumb i’m like if you need that crap pointed out to you, you’re probably too dumb to learn a language (which is sorta not true because you don’t have to be smart to be billingual etc).  those kind of blog entries usually require a lot of skimming to read for me lol. it’s a lot of bs and it’s just boring to read. usually people who write about taht kind of stuff usually suck at the language. lol. why do you want to listen to people like that.

so imma write about スースーする　AND　断捨離.

so I believe I first came across this on slayers next in the later episodes (seeing as it is one of the later episodes of course it was from an amazing scene with good writing and good voice-acting and everything). I didn’t look up what it means and I didn’t add it to anki because it seemed pretty clear what it means from the context of the way it was used and the context of the whole situation. there’s still room for misunderstanding i suppose since it’s just one instance i came across it so my understanding of this word is broad at this point. as much as my japanese improves in vocabulary, understanding, intuition there’s still that small  chance i get the meaning wrong.. for the most part i’m right and i know i’m right.

Recently I came across it watching god tongue’s 2nd pasta ingredient draft kaigi (ゴッドタン 20100519 「パスタの具材ドラフト會議」具材ドラフト會議第2彈 バナナマン 上原美優 ). I was half-expecting it to be boring because it sounds boring since it involves food but it was actually really interesting (it was sorta creepy since one of the talent on that episode committed suicide a few years ago? )and i wanted to see the first instance of this kikaku. I’ll explain what the ep is about so you know why it was so interesting. it’s a draft so it involves picking ingredientswith competition. none of the geinin+tv talent/binbou idol were informed about the kikaku they were just asked for 3 foods they like on the survey. when they got to the shooting of the episode they find out that they’re doing the draft kikaku again and the theme this time it’s PASTA. Last time they did it the theme was curry. of course some of the food just does not match lol…. or you’d think they don’t.

so at the tv studio each team or person writes out the food ingredient they want in their pasta to make the most delicious pasta. however if 2 teams write the same ingredient, nobody gets it. there’s strategy of the psychological nature. obviously everyone wants to the ra-yu etc etc.

so gekidan hitori’s team aka god tongue JAPAN went for the seafood and gekidan hitori was like I think the frisks (mints,tic tacs)’s cooling effect will make the dish goes with the seafood theme and really give it that special something lol. I was thinking hmm interesting theory

after they pick out the 3 ingredients to incorporate in the pasta,  a professional chef  made the pasta for each team. the seafood pasta was crabs, takoyaki (squid/ or octopus), and mints. so the chef did his thing with the crabs and takoyaki (he took off the outer layer so it’s more seafoody). for the mints i was thinking what is he gonna do. is there any way to salvage it? he takes out dough for the pasta noodles and he says i’m gonna put the mints in here. so he crushes them and incorporated them into the noodle by folding them into the flat dough and then later on putting it through that rolling machine and cutting it up into noodles.  evreyone’s comments while eating it was su-su- suru and the timing of the cooling effect is sorta delayed and gekidan hitori was saying that delay is about the same as the delay from eating an actual tic-tac mint.  uehara miu says at one point it tastes like a frisk at the end lol… so it sounds like it doesn’t match? gekidan hitori seems to lke the cooling effect so i guess the only way to find out if it’s realy good is to make it myself lol.

so anyways having exposure to this word in these 2 completely different scenarios really boosted my understanding of the word. both situations are very memorable and interesting.

another word that i came across in 2 totally different instances is danshari. i think it’s a really cool word 🙂
it was so strange! at the time, I just learned the word danshari from sakai masato off waratteittomo (he dansaries too much and has no hobbies. i cannot relate whatsoever!! AND his birthday is the same as kanno miho. they’re meant to be!), then i started watching my shabekuri episode from the middle because that’s where i left off with that man-whore comedian muramoto of WOMAN something. aND the tv show that he doesn’t want to go on again ever is called dansharian (a play on words off danshari). I totally recommend that shabkuri episode. it aired 2014 in february probably. it was recent. it was some interesting talk as in creepy lol 引く話で満載. it made me want to check out the m1 GRANPURI for this year. it was some interesting manzai though muramoto is heard to undersatnd/catch but i’m sure somebody transcribed it lol. otherwise, i have to ask somebody to~~

danshari a concept i want to incorporate more into my life for sure. The first time I heard it I was thinking why haven’t I heard of it before it’s sorta useful and then 5 mnutes later i hear it again lol. of course everybody on shabekuri undersatnds what danshari means so it must be a in the daily conversation scope as far as the vocab. usefulness/level is concerned.

the video is 4 by 3 and i load the korean subs verticaly so it does not cover the screen whatsoever. i write down whatever i don’t understand or i want to re-listen beucase i think i didn’t hear it fully etc etc with the korean subs so i can go back it easily and not have to rewatch the whole episode to deal with the parts i had trouble with.  so it just bothered me a lot when i was watching with the japanese subs since i can’t make them vertical because that sub format sucks lol. for slayers evolution it’s 16:9 so the subs have to cover the screen.  for slayers revolution however there’s japanese subs so what i did was i watchd it raw and wrote down lines i have issues with in japanese while it’s playing and then i had no problem finding the lines i wrote down in the japanese .ass file for the most part.  i didn’t want to watch slayers revolution with subs because they can  be spoilerly (spoilerly as in i know what the person says before they say it which could become a source of boredom) even if i try to not read it or even if i delay it (since the lines are not split enough..though if you delay it enough it obviously won’t be)

but then for hanzawa and legal high i don’t really feel like watching it without japanese subs becaues there’s yougo and normal japanese people have trouble understanding that and some people in dramas just are not good at pronuncing japanese lol.  i’ll off-set the subs so it doesn’t show up before the talking (which leads to the spoiler boring thing)… and try my best to not read it unless i need to. my desire to watchg anime without crap covering the screen hasn’t transcended into my drama watching habits as of yet.

Japanes tv is a great source for learning japanes. sometimes there is incorrect japanese like this… just gotta follow your japnaese 勘 KAN and look up what seems suspicious lol. on the other hand, for all you know it might be 100% correct but just feels strange because your japanese isn’t good enough.

As of now I’m watching legal high and hanzawa naoki (with them japanese subs) and i’m having fun watching them. i like legal high more than hanzawa and i could predict that even before watching either shows just because… it’s more of a comedy/fun show than hanzawa. i was reading hamsapsukebe’s thoughts on hanzawa about how he hated the overacting and everything. I personally don’t mind it YET… i agree it’s a little over especially the sexual/power harassment committing onee-guy with the tax department. what i really hate about OVER-ACTING is the crying, yelling, pausing, really “fake” acting i see in j-dramas so i don’t really mind the “overacting” in hanzawa. i think it just adds to fun of watching it lol. though the overacting that stood out to me was ueto aya lol.  it feels like she’s doing an exaggerated impression of japanese housewives or something lol. i’m on episode 3 and i don’t believe that she’s married to hanzawa. i don’t know if it’s her acting, the scenes they’ve had, the lines they wrote but i just don’t “believe” it. it just doesn’t feel like it. I will see if this issue will be resolved by the end of the show~ my own personal dilemma. So I love the main actor for both dramas. I didn’t know they were the same. sakai masato has A REALLY UNIQUE voice (I almost thought onee at first but i’m used to it now and i love listening to it…!! f abe hiroshi lol. i don’t get people why people like him so much. he talks numbly something sometimes and i can’t understand it which pisses me off. i like people who talk more clearly lol)  and when i found out he is with kanno miho i was just happy for them. they seem like such a cute couple. I surprised to see a johnny in the hanzawa drama. i sorta thought from his enunciation of words that realistically that character would’ve never landed the job in the bank. it’s just not very good especially in a work place… in society as a functioning adult. i’m not sure if that’s part of the acting or just the way he talks. i remember seeing him in heiwa shouwa jikuu kuukan batoru in 2008/9… what a long time ago. fun show<3

legal high episode 1 thoughts: very few but nonetheless thoughts

I sorta wish they casted someone besides aragaki yui. she fits the role and everything and there’s obviously worse actresses who cannot act out of a paper bag yet they’re being pushed and pushed by agencies. her acting is lacking and it’s noticeable in certain scenes. if they casted who is amazing at acting the scenes would be so much better. casting is hard since you have to get somebody who fits, who can act, and has chemistry with the other actor.   i distinctly remember one line in the first episode where i thought her delivery was weak. that’s really strange in my opinion considering how many takes dramas and movies do. it was the line she says right before she was leaving komikado’s house when he was threatening her with charging her a large sum of money lol. one problem is it doesn’t come out as smoothly as it should ( sounds like she’s saying a line in a drama… and her tongue is not moving as well as it should) and the other thing is  the emotional aspect. it could sound stronger in her anger or annoyance.
I thought it was so funny when komikado was talking with gaijin ccent/intonation since he’s learning mandarin. there’s a bunch of scenes in this drama where komikado talks mad fast when he insults mayuzumi… it’s so fast i’m better off just listening to him than reading the japanese subs lol.

for slayers. i’m done. i’ll post up my stuff for try, revolution, evolution-r later in the slayers next post (I don’t want to write about try, evo, and revo unless i completely empty out my thoughts which will be long and i don’t want to use my time like that lol… i’ll just paste my partial thoughts on MAL). try and revolution have subs on kitsunekko. some of the stuff i got aren’t in the subs such as scenes where there’s overlapping talking and the subs chose to only cover the louder people or for no apparent reason. if you watch revo, evo with a light mind-set to try to watch it for fun or enjoy it for what it is maybe you can. there’s definitely parts that old fans may find offensive or just irritated… ie ignore character’s character or personality or abilities etc.  i found it interesting to read a japanese person’s blog about their thoughts about each episode for evolution while watching it (sometimes it got spoilerly so i waited till i finished episodes to read when i noticed that)…. they have some really interesting analysis and thoughts connecting evolution to the slayers world or the past seasons and what’s going on slayers evolution and sorta trying to explain some scenes how they seem more “thought-out” than they seem or maybe the person just analyzes and watches critically to the point that despite the fact the show or episode or the scene was carelessly put-together the person can think of reasons or possible excuses as to why it makes sense. i honestly wouldn’t know if the people who made the episodes were thinking deeply about everything or just were careless and us slayers fans just trying to make sense of it till it makes sense lol. most of the english bloggers are pretty useless they don’t seem to understand slayers much lol…. it’s just very shallow with  understanding the events in the episodes. they just take it face-value or even less because they really don’t understand/ see what’s going on especially episode 13. to be honest my thoughts on episode 13 while i was watching it were the same as the english bloggers like yawn, same shit again but now that iread the japanese blogs i have a completely different understanding of that episode. at times like this i’m glad i read japanese~ i’m so surprised nobody bitches about the BGM in slayers revo and evo. at most the english community is just like oh they’re recycling. what i and the japanese bloggers are thinking is the BGM DOES NOT MATCH, THE BGM IS SPECIFIC TO THIS SCENE,E THAT BGM IS frikin’ special/holy and can only be used with this season or that episode tec etc and to use it for this frivolous scene in revo or evo is damn insulting… i wished they made all new bgm or at least do 90/10 of new bgm to old bgm, not the other way around. i really want to read the light novels!!! i read that the novels are split into 2 parts, part 1 and part 2 and the anime only covered part 1 and part 2 is really dark and there’s no zel or amelia. i would love to see more slayers anime~ with story from that. now it’s like 5 years from slayers evo or revo and it’s a miracle that they made revo and evo in the first place. i just want to know what else happens and i know that the anime and the novels are pretty different. revo was so iffy and upon checking original slayers characters of course pokota  and ozel and the jaconda are exclusive to the anime. zuuma is in the original novels but they changed him so he was probably cooler in the novel… in the anime he was just… shallow? i just didn’t get much from him with this character or his motivations, everything pretty much. pokoa is so annoying. he’s the epitome of the anime character i never want to see ever especially in slayers. i do not like annoying kid character in anime that are hard-headed, self-centered, and say the same thing over and over, has only one purpose in life despite whatever happens or whatever is revealed. it’s just too contrived and forced imo. i honestly don’t believe children are like that (as in that stupid and simple-minded) i felt really pissed for zel whenver pokota just keep going on and on and nobody bitch-slapped him . pokota just does not match slayers with the looks and the personality.

i like enjoyin korea/japan from a safe distance lol. a comforatble distance at my own interest/pace. I don’t have to put myself in situations where i do in japaense/korean that i dont’ want to do or feel uncomfortable with since i’m not obligated to speak either language in my daily life seeing as i live in the us of a. I can just enjoy doing passive things like reading, watching, hearing, etc.

anyways just wanted to write about 3 korean shows i watched.

I saw an episode of놀러와   with lena park a month ago? This is one of the korean shows i like.  i watched for the interesting talk. I WISH the whole episode was interesting talk. it was 2 eps and for one of them half of it was this boring korean gagman (gag me) singing crappily and boringly. ALSO ONE of the gagme-men said this unfunny / 뻔한 (this korean word for some reason i can remember because it’s so USEFUL) statement 3 times for fucks sake! it’s not FUCKIN’ FUNNY. at lesat there was no PLAY BACK… SORRY I MEANT QUADRUPLE BACK, QUINTUPLE BAACK, SEXUTPLE BACK ETC. the episode was annoying with the GUDA GUDAKAN. it’s just like MOVE THE FUCK ON. it was just slow and draggy.

I think it as the the last 15 minutes for the second episode with the interesting talk with the weight loss and lena park’s plastic surgery story (that she did not get it.  THANK YOU. love her for that). that’s what i watched it for and that’s what they teased us with in the first 5 minutes. so that’s what im’ expecting but it doesn’t even show up till the last 15 minutes. it’s a big fu to the viewers no? surely they must have had more interesting talk. why did they bring THOSE gag-me-men on the show. they suck.

I feel bad for lena park when they say shit she don’t undersatnd especially when that shit is not funny lol. the korean mistakes she makes and her pronounciation is so cute and her… indviduality.her tone or intonation or whatever sounds really english/foreign when she speaks korean at times?? But it’s pretty obvious her english IS REALLY good (went back to america to finish a degree good… plus she seems to be into literature and poems that are in english) and her korean is pretty good … i ‘m not trying to say it from a 上から目線 way in any way. her korean’s better than mine anyhoo.  she recited a poem in english on the show which was very very english that only fluent would really feel/understand. i would call her billingual for sure!

lena park  her koraen is inetersitng. sorta reminds me of rora. not a lot of course but that tone it’s just not korean lol. sometimes i hear her accent more than other times. i don’t think accent is the correct word though.

I also watched RADIO STAR which i hate lol. It was the  kara episode and there was some news article so i wanted to see what the fuss was about. also jyp was on!! 😀 first of all annoying fx. DIE.  sound effects are worse than the fx… THEY ARE SO DAMN LOUD. can we have some subtlety!!!
becase i can close my eyes and not see the fx. can’t do that with the annoying sound shit UNLESS somebody invents an awesome filter that leaves the talking alone but gets rid of the crap. like i always bitch, they leave in crap that i would edit out…

so the  stuff they kept prodding were so BORING ANYWAY. the crap that made the members. even if they talked about it i don’t think it would’ve have been interesting. i’m just like who cares they’re not gonna say it/do it.  I loved how jiyeon pretty much refused to do something she didn’t want to do. i just wish she went about it more strongly and firmly. even if she did it i would’ve fast-forwarded it because it’s so boring and pointless. SHE’S NOT 9 anymore (at first I thoguht ailee is sorta old compared to evryone else but at least she didn’t have to do the creeppppppppy ageyo shit songs/performance 🙂 + she’s american. ) . who does that shit.  it was lke 5 to 10% interesting talk with jyp and kara. the rest was torture… i liked the 2 performances i just wish they showed kara’s FULL PERFORMANCE.  as much as the news was saying the kara members were weak or the hosts are too mean or push with the questions they asked but for me it was more because the crap they’re killing kara members over with are SO BORING . that’s what pissed me off . i wish it was at least 70% interesting talk but it was not. if jyp was not inthe episode i would’ve just gave up 5 minutes in. i have no idea how i fast-forwarded this episode. the fx/NOISE was SO AWFUL.

and of course the i hate the lady host. how can i not? her voice is annoying and she doesn’t say anything interesting or significant at all.

also recently i watched the yg family sepcial on strong herat, finally… right? finally. at one point top leaves to go to the bathroom in the middle of this girl’s really boring story. i don’t blame him, it’s GOOD TIMING and of course the way they went about the situation was exactly what i predicted wit hTHE GUDAGUDAGUDAGUDAGUDA kan..   aka gdgdgd??? AKA DRAGGGGGGGGGGGGY.  they’re making a big ass deal about it with the play back and them questioning him/ /interrogating.reproaching him. KITSUMON. there’s also the clapping and laughing. GET THE F OVER IT OR EDIT IT . they waste so much time on crap like thsi.
it’s okay askinghim for the sake of asking him but it’s just so unnecssarrily dragged out. it’s just taking up way too much time. they’v ecould’ve atlesat edited it out,

I love how in japanes etv shows they do prod in other words TSUKKOMU SHITEKI  etc whatever needs to be prodded for however long it needs to be (which is not long AT ALL). sometimes they go over time but compard to korean shows i would say they don’t.  usually it’s just short and sweet. by sweet i mean somebody saying an interesting tatoe or just something funny/interesting/cute/whatever to describe or sum up the situation, we laugh together, the end. the korean one is just like drag drag and the people don’t even say anything interesting  (stuff I already know/noticed/connected dots to and processed instantaneously) and they also repeat stuff and even not counting the numerous playbacks. it’s just TORTURE.

Of course japanese shows have their good and bad days so not every time it’s going to be like what i described above if i compare the japanes shows like to the koreans i like (some shows have the crap i hate but i suffer through it or fastforward through it or whatere because sometimes they say interesting stuff or somebody i reall ylike is on it … etc etc. BUT OF COURSE i’m not forcing myself to watch koran shows i hate and despise. which there probably is a lot considering all my grievances but i try my best.)…. it’s such a staggering difference in the lack of the guda guda. just kill me now. why is this shit taking up so much time.

** UPDAT Eyou know what i can do A DIRECT COMPARISON of this situation on japanese tv. it happened on an amazing, fantastic japanese television show caled GOD TONGUE with KANO EIKOU which was HILARIOUS.

So in this episode the host (the host clubs for women) went to the bathroom in the middle and it was really funny how they handled it. the mc prodded kano to lecture the host guy and then the 2 of them argued and kano lost (the mc on the korean show was just saying banal shit that anyone can say . it’s just like stfu) . it was really funny and it was interesting with the points both of them came up with. i just love the atmosphere of the studio. of course there’s no noise. it’s just perfect harmonious sound effects. The thing about this show in particular… you can tell that the peoepl who make it LOVE the show and find it really fun to make and watch as it’s unfolding in front of their eyes  since i can hera the laughter of the staff and at the same time the viewers have as much fun toooooo.  it’s a beautiful thing when the viewers and the makers both enjoy it. while on korean tv it’s a lot viewers are just left to die on the side of the road while the people in the studio “seem” to be having a ball (I write quotes because i really doubt they actually find that shit that funnny. they muts be turning it up for the tv).  This is definitely one of those god tongue episodes i would recommend to anyone who wants to try out japanese television… as well as to see how it spins a situation into hilarity instead of frustration as on korean television. fo course i’m not sure how interesting it is if you don’t know kano eikou as well as japanese viewers do from the past years.   his personality and ability is not that hard to grasp though.

That step out scene in god tongue is 10/10. the step-out scene in strong heart is like 0/10. it would’ve been better if they edited it out of the strong heart episode. it was that bad. it’s like night and day with how they handle it. one leads to laughter the other leads to frustration and pain.

Improving one’s English vocabulary

I was thinking about the standards i hold myself up for with japanese with the goal of understand 95%~ of the text that i’m reading on websites. of course if it’s of no interest to me i’m not going to waste my time googling that to find out what it means or what it is (sometimes it’s just something i just wouldn’t know because i’m not japanese and i haven’t lived in japan or whatever). Then I was thinking hey i haven’t reached this goal with english with the 95%~ comprehension for websites (well you could argue, not knowing or being unsure of the meaning of a couple adjectives/verbs/nouns doesn’t necessarily kill the comprehension… depends how important it is to the whole picture). It really is dependent on what i’m reading in english even if it’s a blog if it’s well-written they’ll be complex grammar where i’ll have to read the sentence again or they’ll be words I don’t know.  Some people are just good writers and they just use words i don’t know. Whether it’s blog entries or news articles, if it’s fairly well-written then i will come across words i do not know.  I’m not gonna start reading the new york times or whatever other boring ass newspaper to improve my vocabulary. that’s torture. I don’t do that for japanese and i’m not gonna do that for english. But I found a good way to learn vocabulary.

BTW you should know that firefox has awesome plug-ins/add-ons for looking up words and for saving text to file while you’re reading the internet. i downloaded dictionary.com and if you double click it tells you the meaning (I like merriam webster better but fast and efficient is KICKASS).  the sucky part is if you click on the audio thing for the audio bit it’ll take a while so i will actually hear the prnounciation faster by going to m-w and looking up the word than waiting for the add-on to fetch the audio.  I think with english especially hearing the word is useful and sometimes it’s spelled really weird or it’s ambiguous with the pronounciation. even if they have that gibberish to tell you how to pronounce it, it’s just a lot more clear with the audio. i’m checking out other add-ons so it’s more easy to collect/mine the stuff like with rikai-sama if you press S it saves the SENTENCE, DEFINITION, into a notepad file!!! like how awesome is that. so i’m seeing if any of the plug-ins are as kickass as that on firefox.

SO ANYWAYS the most important part is the SOURCE of the sentence/sparagraphs that you leran the vocabulary from. it has to be not too difficult/ridiculous/useless/archaic/etc and at the same time it has to hold your interest… otherwise why the hell would the context help you remember if you don’t give a shit about the actual thing you’re reading ie crappy newspapers.  It’s like AJATT  it has to be something you enjoy.

So this is what I found really useful/helpful and i think it could be applicable to other people … well bear with me. i hope somebody gets something out of what i wrote.

I find mad men really useful for learning vocabulary.  i look up words they use in the show and what i always always do starting since some season of mad men is I read  other people’s thoughts and analysis of the episode. ONE is because the show mad men is just very sophisticated like the dialogue is just not straight forward sometimes i miss out or i misinterpret????? TWO it’s just a well-done and there’s a lot of shit going on (If you don’t think so, you need to venture out into the INTERNET.  THREE even if i were to re-watch it, i wouldn’t get as much out of it compared to just reading somebody else’s thoughts about it. other people just better at getting stuff out of that show.  FOUR lots of mad men fans do it. FIVE it makes me want to watch more actively for the next episode like i want to notice stuff as much as the other peeps. SIX mad men fans are smart/educated (some of them are probably old right? like they were actually alive in the 60s lol) . some stuff i’ve seen written by mad men fans are just so well-written with the sentence/paragraph I have to re-read or the big words I don’t know. SEVEN it’s season 6, i forget stuff lol…. like i said this show’s well-done with the continuity and all that. i’ll literally watch an episode there’s some character and i have no idea who it is ( I couldn’t figure it out just from watching the ep because i like said mad men is never relaly that explicit and clear) or i forgot who it was (they showed up in some other season) and then i have to refresh myself lol.  I watch it once a year when it airs so….

Even though they’re using big words I care and I know what they’re talking about (the thing they’re describing) because I watched the episode. It’s sort of a game too like they’ll describe the character as some word I don’t know and I’ve seen the episode so I’ll be like oh   i think that’s a fancy word for __ and then i can see if i’m right. but usually now a days i have no imagination so i don’t even guess lol. The reason it works so well for me is because it’s so well-written and i really care about what the person writes about. it’s just the perfect environment for learning the vocab.

Now I don’t know what to do with the vocabulary. I saved the sentences with the definition on a notepad which i later transfer to EVERNOTE (kickass progrma, highly reocmmended thank you tofugu though their entries of late are complete shit , very lazy for the most part) . I looked at the sentences i collected they really are a pleasure to read lol… like no wonder i looked it up. I’ve always looked up words when i read particularly well-written stimulating blog entries or news articles or whateve rbut i never collected them. but i feel like collecting is helpful because the context is just so compatible with me. like i realy really give a shit!  I don’t know about adding the sentences to anki or anything like that. I do that with japanese and i don’t want to do that with english. english is my native language even if my vocab is low compared to people who read many more books that i have. I do want to improve my vocabulary like anyone else (who has a brain). if you don’t know the awesomeness/benefits of reading and vocabulary on YOUR LIFE, then you need to read up on that. I was literally tortured by people who do not read much/possess much vocabulary which was evident in their vapidly empty annoying blithering conversations. check out my lang-8 for that, you gotta be my friend to read it though!

so I found an awesome source to TAP to get the words that i do not know that i want to know. who wants to learn from a list from sat or act or gre or whatever…. half the crap just seems useless becaues you never heard of it. it relaly is like AJATT you gotta find something that’s enjoyable.  I do have a desire to improve my vocabulary and i’ve found the right medium. I’m not sure if this works with other shows…  mad men is just so SPECIAL AND well-done and there really is a lot to talk about plus some shows why would you care enough to read about other people’s thoguhts lol ie gossip girl/anything on cw for that matter. of course that show would attract fans who are good at writing and intelligent lol.  I’m also reading books too btw it’s just hard because I want to read japanese books too lol.

Basically I encourage looking up words while reading the internet since there are some awesome tools. there’s no reason not to. it’s 2013 bitch!  I checked out chrome, chrome has awesome addons/extensions too… the dictionary for that fetches the audio instantaneously!! so perhaps that’s a perk that can’t go ignored. hearing the word is really helpful to remembering it so that the next time you come across it, they’ll be a higher chance of having some feeling of familiarity.

here’s a copy paste of the stuff just so yo know what i mean… more clearly. if you haven’t seen mad men season 6 up to episode 4 there might be SPOILERS… i hope most people will see what i pasted and go i don’t know those words eitther lol. that’s what i’m thinking but i’ve been neglecting english for the past 4 years? loll with the japanese. I don’t want my english to turn to  crap or stop growing but at the same time iwant to also learn french a lot… not to fluency of course (that’s very very high goal) because first of all i haven’t even discovered what thing about france interests me.. the reason i mention french because it’s romance language and they’re based on latin so french itself would be helpful with expanding my english vocabulary but i’m curious as to how helpful learning french is vs. reading more in english with improving english vocabulary. because for korean if you don’t know hanja you can forget about expanding your vocabulary because it’s mostly (well  ALOT OF) 2 syllable words that all sound the same lol… the difference are so who gives a shit arbitrary unless you know what to look out for with hanja. i’m curious if it’s as helpful as hanja was for korean/japanese. but then again if i think of it as how helpful is korean for advanced japanese vocabulary (advanced? wtf is that lol.  I guess any and all words a fluent japanese speaker would know – that would encompass words that are based on kango, not based on kango) i don’t think it’s really helpful because they’re 2 different languages and they’re both based on kanji/hanja/chinese characters so not really…. not really for korean/japanese. yo know i read somewhere!!! it was on a language forum and they were talking about languages they’d forgotttten. someone said i forgot my damn german because all the common/daily convresation words are really similar to english and all the more advanced/difficult/beyond daily conversation words  are not similar to english THEN for french all the daily/conversation stuff was not similar to english but all the advanced words are similar to english… so they were saying german was more easily forgotten? unless they said it the other way around. so maybe learning french will be helpful  provided it is the way i wrote it.

Recommendation for Japanese talk/variety

I decided to write this post bc of a bunch of comments that were made on my post about ariyoshi’s show with the tokyo university guy and the AV star by me and another person lol. i just remember him saying yeah i know about the ame talk and the honma dekka…. i highly RECOMMEND BOTH.  (  so sad about kaneko 😦 ) what else! I know that not a lot of people are into talk/variety shows or have a really warped/prejudiced/narrow-view on talk/variety shows because there is a lot of variety in variety/talk shows as well as among the episodes of one talk/varietiy show. also there is the availability with vids getting removed off the streaming sites and ordering it is probably really pricey plus who wants to order something they never seen. so anyways i’m writing this for my limited audience. niche is good 🙂 though in japan  it’s hardly niche..

so first i’m gonna reiterate some information about japanese talk/variety shows JUST SO you don’t miss out on good stuff but you know at the same time don’t waste your time trying to like something you don’t like or trying to find something you find utterly boring/pointless as interesting because of x reason.

What I LOVE about it is…the interesting talk, the deep talk, hilarious talk etc etc. basically intersting talking! hence TALK/variety show!  ALSO like i said before withthe previous post, i hate how korean talk/variety shows are so noisy or poorly edited (compared to japaense), really obnoxious and just … just not think of the viewers. IT’S LIKE NO I DON’T GIVE A SHIT THAT B-LIST CELEBS ARE PLAYING SOME GAME THAT  I CAN PLAY WITH MY FRIENDS… hence i hate 1 night 2 days/running man etc etc (it’s not funnny at all to me… it’s just one of those things like i find big bang theory stupid and not funny as well asmodern family as well as new girl. i don’t care how many damn awards you throw at it. it does’nt change its suckiness) . but like i said in my previous post, my…. relatives find it fun to watch and that it doesn’t require much thinking. i can understand the second part but i will nevr comprehend the first part just bc of my love towards japaense shows.

so that is why I am recommending these shows and for the record I do not like recommending anything that’s embarrassing. in other words, people who go crazy over __ and like recommends it and then you watch it and your response either ends up being zzz…. wtf, this crap is average/mediocre/below-average/complete shit or…. it’s good but not that good. Like recently I read the book  children (chirudoren) by isakarou something something and that book has…. REALLY high reviews amazon like 4.5 starss high… from what I could tell from his writing style from my brief reading in bookoff… his writing style is compatible with me so i gave him a shot. and to give a shot with an author, i usually choose an award-winnning book. sothis was did win an award. but for me this book is like 3/5 or 2.5/5 … it’s just nichijou-kei. I like certain aspects/parts about it but overall i do not see why it’s 4/5 or 5/5. for tanpenshuu … hana no manma and natsu no anthology were more enjoyable and interesting for me (those are like 4/5 or 4.5/5… hana no manma is AWESOME) so that’s why i have to rate his book lower bc all i can do is compare to books i’ve read thus far. BUT from the amazon reviews, some people said they loved his other book ___ and was disappointed with this one b.c. of the popularity/hype so i will try to chceck out his other books as well  in the future provided book-off puts his books in the dollar section lol.

So basically I personally don’t like recommending anything unless i really find it totally awesomely fun and i have some amount of confidence that the person who  i recommend it to won’t respond back with uh… it’s nothing special.. I feel like just the word recommendation sorta holds the nuance that out of all the __ I watched I felt ___ is the most entertaining/worth watching. OF COURSE there’s also personal taste differences but you know i just described in this post what I love about japanese talk/variety show. so i tihnk you should know whether or not there’s a chance in hell if you find what I find interesting/awesome also interesting/awesome. however, with this post i will probably end up doing the opposite of what i just said because the nature of variety/talk shows/tv is just is what it is.  lol.

so the thing with talk/vaerity shows, at lesat for me, is let’s say i find one i really like but then there’s some parts of the show I REALLY find boring no matter what or some of the kikaku (it could span the whole ep or half the ep, who knows) is just really crappy and uninteresting but there’s also episodes that make me laugh out loud from beginning to end. So if I GAVE UP on haneru no tobira after seeing the 100en shop bit I would hav eNEVER watched the episode with the bakuro (where the cast tell their biggest secret.  of course the cast are all geinin so it’s hilarious shit). I’m not saying I sat through the 100 en shop big. what i did was fsat-forward the show to see if tehre’s any part worth wathcing and i found out there is.

just a tip … i find idol shows easier to understand and to be more everyday conversation if reinforcing common/japanese vocabulary is important to you. ie arahsi, akb48. but the thing is even though it’s  easy to understand and reinforcing in that way it’s still funny and enjoyable to watch.   but by all means don’t limit yourself to idol shows just bc they’re easier because those geinin are frickin’ hilarious.

So I’m just going to talk about  a bunch of japnaese talk/variety shows that i like. plesae take into consideration what i said before about duddy episodes, segments, etcc. don’t scream bullshit till you fast-forward lol.

竹山のやりたい100のこと ～ザキヤマ＆河本のイジリ旅～ – wow I caught this on youtube and I love it. koumoto’s laugh is to die for and zakiyama is awesome. it was so funny in ep 4 when zakiyama was like if you just say yaritai yaritari w.o. the yaritakunai it becomes realllllllly vulgar. I’m definitely gonna check out other eps. i don’t know if i want to recommend this show but I personalllly LOVE It. the takeyama ijiri on london hearts is so funny too the yakusha thing… lol. I wonder if the show was filmed before the whole mess with koumoto’s mom or if the show ended after that ended. but anyways i hope there’s many eps. I would recommend checking it out if you’re in the loop with geinin and you love the takeyama ijiri on london hearts.

ブラマヨとゆかいな仲間たち アツアツっ! – so I’ve been loving this show ever since it aired. it completely is what I love about japanese talk/vairety show with the geinin. so the show is called blahblahblah atsuatsu bc they gotta talk PASSIONATELY about whatever. and geinin are really good at speaking/telling stories. it’s hosted by black mayonnaise which is definitely one of the top tier conbis in japanese now. I like both of them but yoshida is pretty twisted….  so there’s a lot of interesting stories  and both parties are good at talking so it’s enjoyable and fun to watch . So the host are like A+ tier as far as geinin are concerned.  it’s a shinya show (airs at midnight?) so they don’t have limits… you know how  if a  gets the prized golden hour for its airing they have to keep it g or pg which might sorta limit/hamper the people who are on the show with their creativity. that is not to say that this show is only full of shimo-neta stuff…. what ‘m saying is they don’t have to deal with those kind of restrictions or pressure to please the broad audience as opposed to whatever audience. so i’m finally catching up with this show and watching eps i havnet seen yet.  so one i saw recently was with jarujaru (I love this conbi) and they talked about the whole m-1 granpri (guranpuri… what is this word in english lol) grandpre?  debacle (I personally liked their manzai but now i get why everyone was so pissed at them) and why did what they did… it was awesome finding out the back story. i actually watched that m-1 grnpuri bc jarujaru wasin it and i wanted to see who was most funy. ps. i found the winner not FUNNY but at least they didn’t become popular after winning. I prefer punk bubu over owarai meshi ( the winners) that year. the winners talked about a bird-person or something.. basically it was dumb and not funny. I’ve seen the m-granpri before and i don’t find all the people funny and i don’t agree with the judges but there are funny ones in there.

ひみつの嵐ちゃん！– i like it a lot. the older eps anyway from 2009 and back? The easy to understand  ( compared to others ) but still funny. Not sure if it’s as fun for guys… i dont think it is. the ones airing now a days with the share house is boring..

はねるのトびら  – 暴露 – that ep was awesome 🙂 that episode you should definitely watch. i loved the bakuro one about suzuki because it was so harash and real. i hate suzuki too man…

ゴットダン　- there’s sorashi tai and a whole other kikaku but this show can be crude lol. so yeah… thre’a lot of kikaku so see if any interest you.　 I love this shwo somtimes ie マジ歌選手権…. omg i love some of the songs for reals. and it’s so funnnnnnny!! I laugh out loud while i watch that. If I had milk in my mouth like the judges i would have to clean up my house. i thought the title was GODDAMN b.c. the show is crude sometimes.. turns out it’s GOD TONGUE . i found out from clubbox lol. so sorry it’s ゴッドタン, my miss lol. バカヤロウ徒競走 IS INTERESTING too.

有田とマツコと男と女  – some of it is interesting and hilarious but some of it is okay. artita and matsuko is an interesting combination i thought and it does work…. I like the part with the gaikokujin of course. i would skip the part about ippatsu ya because they were famous for a brief amount of time in the 80s or 70s or some shit.

speaking of matsuko + someome. matsuko and ariyoshi’s ikari shintou is okay. at first i had mad expecatations bc it was matsuko and ariyoshi. the funny thing is even they talked about it on the show… i know that people expect both of us to be all pissed and be yelling and spitting poison out of our mouths but we’re just normal people lol. it’s just okay….. I don’t know if it got better or anything. BUT I do have eps on my que for certain eps because it came up on the news (entertainment news) that they talked something that seemed really interesitng.
akbingo  – i only watch interesting kikaku episodes ie i do not watch the episode the burger shop, flour, stupid games that have no meaningful conversation etc. i like interesting talk. I also like let’s DANSO lol.

くだまき八兵衛X  –  I lovethis show. they talk about interesting stuff  and there’s also shimo-neta lol ie ep with the av joyuu.  the ep about goukon was pretty funny.

さしこのくせに – i loved this show. i don’t know why but i jjust loved it. they had an episode with kaidan which was awesome. i am a fan of sashihara so if you aren’t a fan of her i don’ tknow how fun it’ll be.
red theater – there are some awesome konto on this show. this show as well as three theater features konto with a set and props and costumes. some kontos arent as funny but once you find one that’s hilarious, you can also anticipate that they’ll do variations of that konto with different settings etc. I think the show was really popular?
平和昭和時間空間バトル – this was one of my first shows/introductions to talk variety shows. they had some fun games. they compare showa and heisei. there were idol boys that were 13/14 so i was hoping it would be easier lol but they sitll have 14 years on me with the japanese. there was a geinnnin here i realllllly liked on this show he’s the one that’s in his 30s.
有吉AKB共和国  – the editing on this show is good. i find this show pretty funny/entertaining/awesome. I am a little bit of a fan of akb48 but not that huge. i first watched bc of ariyoshi of course. i don’t want to strongly recommend ittttt but i personally really enjoyed watching some of the eps.  the country song that kojiharu sang will always be in my heart lol　 国歌. they have a lot of kikaku too so choose the one that looks interesting if you want to check it out.

ame talk  アメトーーク!  – only geinin come on the show for talking so it’s awesome (one of the reasons why i’m just likein LOVE with japanese tv and i just have to compare this show to korean tv sometimes because it’s so much better). find a themed ep that interests you and try it out. i loved hitomishiri geinin, evangelion geinin. sometimes, they’ll do it on sometihng i have no idea what it is like some anime i’ve never seen but it’ll still be hliairous.

matsumoto hitoshi! he has like an empire of talk shows. I like yurusenai hanashi and zotto suru hanashi the most. i do like suberanashi hanashi but for some of them i don’t find it that suberanai actually lol. but some suberanai hanashi are awesome and i laugh out loud together.  As far as i can tell his shows are mainstream? or at lesat popular? at leas tmore popular than current anime lol.

ホンマでっか!?  – educational? maybe. there was drama with kadokura and his blog and leaving the show which was hilarious. they also have nayami soudan corner which might be useful if you have the same problem.

arashi no shukudai-kun  – this show is pretty gooooooood. it ended a couple years ago but i wish they didnt’ end it bc arashi ni shiyagare just sucksssssssss. they keep saying gouka gouka or have all this crap going on to make it all gouka gouka (fancy ‘smancy) but it is boring. i’ve been meaning to watch the ep with chutoriaru just bc they’re interesting but it could end up being boring 😦 FUN TALK/VARIETY. find the guests you like and watch.
リンカーン 持病でガッテン – I wrote about this before i beleive. i don’t like lincoln in general. i don’t find the the thing wit hthe quiet library funnyy . but there are eps /kikakus that are interesting ie jibyou de gatten  so   iguess i do like the show. THE Nuigurumi ep was so cute and funny too. maybe it was the cuteness and the contrast with scary hamada

akb48 bimyo-  I like this show it’s funny. there’s some konto that don’t work but most of them work imo and there’s parts that are subbed with the konto (which is rare since they usually don’t for konto) so in that way i l ove it.. there’s a lot of i can’t catch it but if i did i would’ve understand it with konto/manzai/etc. not sure if i would recommend to non-akb fan but i like it. I would recommend to anyone who likes conto bangumi!!

HANSEIKAI 反省会　with ariyoshi -sensei! –  I like this show. the b-kyuu. the b-movie quality about it is just hilarious. they do have big people on it too. it’s just silly and serious and all this stuff at the same time. it’s an awesome  show. i love the stuff ariyoshi confesses in the beginning of the show.

情熱大陸 – jounetsu tairiku – i’d say watch an example with a celebrity that you like or are interested in. It’s a documentary or documentary-like program! i definitely gotta watch danimitsu’s, kuriyama chiaki, whoever else that’s been on this show that i like/interested in.

TABIZARU 旅猿 – this show I really like. I personally HATE 1 night 2 days and other shows like that on korean tv  since they are boring as HELL and the editing or post-editing/effects are so obnoxious and lame  but I love this show. I don’t know why. so far i saw the one in tsukiji with kasuga and tko. It’s just funny and the ordinariness is what’s funny about it…. i can’t explain it too well. I personallyy really enjoyed it. I was caught by the tittle which was kai gai dorama mimakuri. that caught me and i’m glad I watched it.  maybe it’s the geinin.

新堂本兄弟 – this show rocks. I don’t like the new set-up as much as the old set-up? I would recommend it to beginners because you can find a guest who you really like/care about and watch and laugh. it’s subed a lot so you can definitely learn from it and most of the time it’s everyday/common japanese  but it’s still hilarious!  people don’t have to use difficult/obscure words or whatever to be funny. simple is funny too.

gachigase – this show i wouldn’t really recommend. i mean if you’re a japaenese talk/variety show virgin lol then you might find it rather intetrseting or you really like akb48. it’s just a quiz show and like i said i love interesting talking and that’s not relaly this show’s focus.  i saw some eps that interested me like the ep about the korean women and plastic surgery.

pikaru no teiri – this is the new “red theater”. not really. it was interesting how on london hearts they were treating it like the new red theater. i haven’t seen enough pikaru no teiri to really give all the deets. but iLOVE LOVE LOVE bibaru and rui. it’s basically very homosexual and very funny. i think their acting is pretty goood. the casting is just perfection lol. there’s other conto on this show that i like but some are just fail….. (that dried up desert grass thing rolling across the desert) ビバリルイ nm. bibari and rui. but it’s so funny. go watch it.  they also have  part where they talk with the guest which is interesting. oh and i forgot to mention shiratori. sometimes it’s hilarious, hsometimes ifeel bad for watanabe naomi. i think the funniest part about the shiratori konto is the part (I don’t know if they shoot it multiple times or just once ) where they show a cast member that is unable to hold in their laughter (is that on purpose that they showed us that? but ANYWAYS it makes it more funny)

nakayoshi terebi  – some of the eps are intersting. so 3 groups of people from 3 diff countries just debate about stuff. i think out of the combinations korean/chinese/japanesae is most interesting. some of the eps are not. you can tell whether or not the topic they talk about will interest you or not.  it has a variety touch so it’s not just serious debating/talking with the facts the whole time through. i like other shows better than this one

arashi ni shiyagare — no…. just no. arashi shows aren’t THIS BORING.

ザ!世界仰天ニュース – exactly as the title says.I was thinking since the footage shows white people did the production made the reenactment themselves or if they took the footage from another tv show (america or uerope somewhere) …

FOR SOME this show’s enjoyment sorta goes down b.c. of the reenactment because they take longer  to tell the story than they need to. I enjoy the reenactment but that aspect kills it forme so i gotta be doing something while i watch the show otherwise i don’t watch this show. I like the talking aspect of talk/variety shows more so this show doesn’t do much for me? yeah the mysteries are interesting it’s just… they could tell more if they cut down on the reenactment… plus they hvae a part where the people do their talk which may or may not be intersting and honestly geinin are like the BEST when it comes to interesting tlaking. if you find it interesting, watch. i presonally would rather watch something else.

it’s like the strange stories they show on TLC. love how there’a  show where they only show interesitng stories . there’s probably a show like this in korean but i wouldn’t know what it’s called and i don’t like watching these kinds of shows without my kanji soo eh. lol.

ほこｘたて hmm this show is average to me?i would have to fast-forward or do something while  watching to watch it.  by all means the concept is interesting and i love taka and toshi. it’s just other shows have more to offer me than this show fo rme. it’s totally recommendable to beginners of japanese and beginners of talk/variety shows.

TBS「イチハチ」 – I loved this show! so sad it got cancelled b.c. somebody lied on the show lol.

basically they have crazy people on this show and they discuss HILARIOUS episodes of their craziness (most people don’t… really have their preferences etc etc) like people that are obessed with being clean, who are really lazy, have very unbalanced diets, etc etc. they have top -class geinin on the side so the enjoyment level is high high high. really funny. !!

 testsuko no heya – i don’t find ithis show interesting. she has the guiness world record. great for her but the show is eh.  oshare rizumu, merenge on kimochi more interesting…. the clips they showed on ame talk wwere hilarious as well as those eps but tetsuko’s room ain’t that intetersein.

ブラマヨの世紀の和解SHOW – i don’t know if this show has a lot of eps. the ep with ariyoshi was hilarious. he was brilliant as always . i saw another ep which wasn’t as good but  the concept is interesting.

fukaii hanashi– deep… Stuff 🙂 I wonder who they replaced the mc with. so they tell a DEEP MEANINGFul story in one  minute. it usually is. you learn stuff… there’s different themes so DEFINITELy check it out an ep with the theme that interests. highly recommend!

ジャック10 – I liked this show but like the vids on youku need passwords? wtf. but anyways there’s eps on clubbo!! it’s like doyagao as far as i remember. people teach really USEFUL/handy information. junior is on the show.

コレってアリですか？ –  i loved the show in the begining.. towards the mid it felt like they ran out and the re-enactments got too ridiculous/unrealistic but then I saw a later ep that is good. I think you can tell whether or not the episode (segments of th eshow)  holds something of interest to you depending on what situations they cover. O-DO-RI- is in this and so is bananman….  I like those 2 conbis. especially shitara-san! if you don’t know what korette aridesuka MEANS then go watch the show and find out.

shabekuri – this is why i love geinin. just check out an ep with a celebrity you care about or know. if that ep ends up being boring, then watch another one lol. i like ita lot and i didn’t know how amazing this show could get till i watched a really amazing episode.  + highly recommend.

london hearts – i don’t like some of the kikaku like when they rank geinin i want to sleep with or i want to go out etc etc. i love the ariyoshi shinro soudan and the   ura de konna koto yattemashita and some of the kakeduke au. i notice the kakedukeau got boring. if you want to watch agood with the kakedukau watch the one with michishige and ariyoshi the one when ariyoshi crashes their kakuduke. + highly recommend.

also they have dokkiri shows (IE うわ! 騙された大賞, 爆問パニックフェイス!, etc etc ) , kae-uta shows (替え歌 they change the lyrics and sing it regarding their problem/ etc etc and it’s funnyt), monomane shows ( omg the new monomane with maeda atsuko is so funnnnnnnnnny… 私のことが嫌いでもAKBのことは嫌いにならないでください) she’s got the annoying nasally voice down!、　怪談 – these are awesomeeeee very scary sometimes.

there’s a lot more shows .. some i do not remember what show it is or what it was called plus i’m behind so i don’t know if there’s some new hilarious show.  and no  i don’t need recommendation bc i’m really super behind lol. these shows air week ly!!

女優 男優 俳優

correct me if im wrong but the opposite of 女優 is not 男優. I don’t know why or whatever but from my japanese immersion i’ve come to associate danyuu with a male actor in an AV (a porno). that’s what comes up in my head when i hear the word danyuu. the reason I’m writing about this was because I saw ariyoshi’s show… where people live with people that have opposite views on life for however long it takes for both of them to get over it/resolve their differences/make compromises. ex. anally clean person vs really messy person. one of the pairs was an AV actress and a tokyo university student who was in his 20s and he’s a virigin. Nothing dirty happeend lol. IT was just funny when ariyoshi summarized the episode at the end. he was like oh at first something something and now he’s saying he is willing to star in an AV with the girl.

after living with each other for a day or two or a couple? I don’t remember how long they lived together but the girl said to him oh you should get rid of your virginity asap… etc etc. Then she was like we should star in an AV together. It’ll totally sell since we’re on this show and so people will know about it etc etc lol. the guy says no… then he says i’ll probably say yes after 2 days. I think she said danyuu de dete mitari or something along those lines. AT that moment i was like yeah danyuu is just used to describe the “male actors” in AV.

From what I can tell from my immersion if you want to say male actor it’s 俳優. and on a sorta similar note 愛人 is not fiancee.. it means lover as in mistress
許婚     (いいなずけ ) means fiancee though im’ not sure if you can use this word on males because i’ve only seen it used on females in hanazakari no kimtiachi e . From checking the defiition on yahoo jp dic apparently you can use it on male or female.

OMG there’s a glee version. usually I don’t give a shit about the glee versions of the songs but QUINN  is singing half of it? well i only saw a 3 second clip but I love hearing her voice. i hate rachel’s voice…. it’s just so annoying after a while. glee version over this but of oourse!

blonde guy (no more acne blonde guy  so blonde guy = guy who can’t rap or sing) – yay. guy who can’t rap or sing for the win! very fun performance. you can tell he really practiced and shit… just a lot of performance with lots of people moving around.  just goes to show just because you can “tehcnically sing” doesn’t mean you’ll be half as interesting/entertaining as this kid (I’m obviously pointing at the American idol contestants) at least he understsands the concept of entertainment/performance. american idol contestants think karaoke = performance/moving/entertainment (worst misunderstanding ever). VERY FUN PERFORMANCE 🙂 JYP even gave him a 93 even though he said “the highest i’ll ever give you is 89 since you’re not good at singing/rapping” . Gotta watch his performance AGAIN!

bak jimin – eh. i found it to be okay. since she did that wizard of oz song last weekkkkkk obviously anything is inferior…. though i didn’t agree with their extreme compliments last weekkk… way too extreme.

I caught a glimpse / glimpses of an american idol elimination episode. i was watching 3 or 4 things at a time of course so even then i’m sure i didn’t miss much. my comments are the following

who is jim? is twitter that pouplar now a days? what is up with j-lo. she’s 40 right? so why is she in mv’s like that. alot of body make up involved too probably? lighting can only do so much.  it just looks pathetic… like madonna. but anyways shit that pissed me off.

the girl who didn’t get voted off. she just gives off this horrible personality. maybe it was that hair accessory she had on or the fact that she was touching her hair frequently or maybe it was the fact thta i saw the recap of her performance ( horrible song by the way.. i’m not sure if even ali can save that song. I HATE THAT SONG)… but anyways she most definitely will not win.

well jimmy does do a better job than the judges at critiquing and whatnot…. j-lo/rendy/steven tyler.. they do such a horrible job as judges. they don’t give criticism nor anything constructive or descriptive wHICH does not help the contestants grow or stop being stuck up/stupid/brainless (ie that girl with a horrible personality that didn’t get voted off). there’s always room for improvement. american idol is so boring. i dont need to watch people karaoke. being a singer isn’t that easy especially if you want to become one of the good singers. modesty is required. Like I loved the scene in kpop star when somebody got eliminated and he said to the judges “oh i’m really thankful you told me what i needed to hear and not what i wantd to hear”. in the long run… you need to hear what you need to hear if you want to grow.

speak of which, there was this guy who is not very proficient in English even though he only speaks english? (he just seems like he doesn’t give a shit… in other words.. he’ll never succeed) so maybe he’s really dumb…. Ryan said to him oh are you afraid of becoming complacent since the judges always compliment you. he goes no.. i just want to be myself. i’m not gonna go around high-fiving people during my performance. All i’m thinking is… if you don’t know what complacent means you have really big problems.  this is complete bullshit. i had no idea why no one was like you don’t what complacent means?

I  ALSO HATED HOLLY… the girl who was the worst 3 or something. ryan asked her something and she was like throwing her hands up and whatnot and not really hvae much to say or anything interesting to say. I’m like this is tv can you please try a little harder than that half-hearted/half-baked shit.  personality is part of american idol… she doesn’t give a shit either? I just didn’t feel like she was acting in a way where she’s likable to the viewers.

so from the cap it seemed like teh song choices were crappy. also ,the guy who goted voted off probably looks like a past american idol contestant ( since there is only a billion seasons)… isn’t there a couple of them with that hair-type.

the other shit that pissed me off was when ryan sent this girl to the bottom of 3 and then he says right before the break okay guys so we’ll like announce the results after the break… actually he says instead of “after break” he says “after holly goes back the the couches since you’re not in the top bottom 2” or some shit like that. and i’m like FIRST OF ALL why are you wasting our time… don’t bring the bitch to the center of the stage in the first place.

the people they had perform on the show sucked balls. at first i was like oh boy band . one of them is sorta good looking… some of them are like not so i’m wondering why they’re in the bad. horrible performance…. especially when i’m used quality crap like immortal song. NM none of them are good looking compraed to the fictional band in the korean drama shut up flower boy band (don’t worry this english translation doesn’t do any justice… it sounds cool in korean)

the good part is the stage is bigger and fancier. bad part is the stage is not versatile (that’s the impression i’m getting… unless it can be versatile and they’re just not utilizing it)… to have like different sets/moods and whatnot. hell even the stage on immortal song isn’t that big or awesome but like they do shit so everyone’s performance is unique… really set the mood… really take someone to another world for 4 minutes… something that an amreican idol contestant will never do)

I have no idea why the ratings are high (they must be going down though). this shit is boring. americans need to learn a second language (and consume media is L2) already and jump ship off boring shit like this.

Ouch — that seemingly dismisses Iovine’s entire critique in a very flippant manner. But the singer would like everyone to know that he didn’t mean for his response to sound that way. Phillips posted a response on his official Facebook page the next morning (April 6), saying that he misunderstood Iovine’s comments and meant no disrespect.

“Thank you to everyone who supports me and voted this week! I appreciate it very much,” he writes. “I heard that some people took my comment the wrong way but i thought jimmy said if i dont move around i would get passed and all i was meaning that im not the artist who runs around stage touching peoples hands and sings to them, thats just not me so im sorry to who ever my have taken it the wrong way bc i wouldnt even be here without you guys voting haha thank you again!”

I mean even if for one second I would forgive him for misunderstanding JIMMY’s COMMENT by  LITERALLY moving around…. and pretend he knows what complacent means… so that would mean he thinks that moving around the stage/interacting with fans = becoming not being complacent and moving forward and becoming a better performer etc etc. no… that’s not all it’s limited to…. it also extends to the effort he would have to put in in tweeking the song, understanding the song, making the song his own, etc etc. so whether he was saying that because he understood what complacency meant and drew this asinine elementary decision or because he didn’t know what complacency meant and just said whatever shit that’s probably relevant to the word complacency… he still looks like an idiot.

I could criticize this episode more and more if i had seen more of it. but anyways the most interesting part was jimmy’s insight because unlike the judges he actually has his head screwed in and actually has brain cells and actually uses them since he’s getting paid to say shit. while jennifer lopez and randy and that rocker get paid for saying nothing…… you don’t even have to speak english that well to say what they say… it’s literally limited to 4 phrases.. so PATHETIC. the results show makes you not want to watch the original show in the first place since they show the meat of the performance and the people’s comments and criticism whether it’s read off by ryan seacrest or some other method. this show is so pathetic .

Kpop star top 10 && top 9 episodes.

WOW What happened.
So I saw 2 eps of kpop star, Top 10 && top 9. It’s like the first episode of immortal song season 2 vs… the episode with ali .top 10 episode as faras performances go is like 5/10 and like top 9 is like at least 7.5. it’s such a huge difference!!!

So watching the top 10 episode.. I was like wow the level is low. Like low as or lower than american idol especially with that one guy who doesn’t even sing or rap??/ he’s an artist or some shit? As always the judges have brains unlike the judges on american idol. so nonetheless it is enjoyable to watch just because I like listening to their korean lolz..  i skip certain perfromances just bc i don’t see the point of watching it.  BUT BECAUSE it’s live they don’t sub anything but VTR’s so…. it’s a good thing i’ve come and watched all this time with the judges critiques subbed in korean. So like I don’t have training wheels no more 😦 well for the most part I get what they say and hopefully they’ll never air immortal song LIVE lol for this very same reason.

BUt seriously from the top 10 episode to the top 9 episdoe… the “artist guy” who is not good at singing or rapping became amazing lol. like seriously? everyone else stepped their game up like crazy. I loved “inside the rain” by that guy who’s really poor and is serving in… something. as well as a bunch of  other ones in the top 9 eps BUT it does not include michelle or the other girl that sang the whitney girl song, cheerleader girl.

The ones I liked were at 35,52,68,75 minute … so that’s 4 performances. that’s pretty good!! compared to the top 10 episode especially. Now I totally see why it’s so hard to choose… even though someone may hvae a shitty performance, the judges see the potential for growth and if they live up to that potential or go beyond that then… the judges made the right choice but if the person doesn’tr grow or doesn’t grow enough…. then it was a miss. The judges kept saying inthe top 10 oh it’sthe first time, you get nervous then your throat is blocke dup and blahblah but it really was true because the guy who sang “in the rain” or inside rain… however you translate it was COMPLETELY different in the top9. I felt something when I watched him perform compared to top 10 which was boring.

In the top 10 episode, I liked literally liked half a performance or something? It was only one person or two and then the person who got voted off… just shouldnt have. as far as I see it, out of all the girls either michelle or the cheerleader girl is the worst so i don’t mind if they’re off the show. michelle bores me and cheerleader girl has a nice voice sometimes but she doesn’t have emotinal depth and she is so awkward and stiff all the time. i mean if she overcomes it and gets better.. i’m fine with it.

But seriousyl, the lvel was so low in episode 10 and the judges were really nice and actually really liked certain performances though iwas bored by it… I was thinking omg don’t tell me this show is going to become like akb48. akb48 in the sense…. the people are at a really low level and we watch them grow as time passes. but the bad part about akb48 is they don’t really grow much… like they’ll never reach the level of the kpop groups that practice like 24 hours a day lol… I’m not saying that being as good as a kpopstar should be their goal or that it’s a good thing  or a bad thing but i’m pretty sure they’ll never reach it.  I don’t like akb48 for their singing/dancing abilities ( i like them from their shows like bimyo~~ <3). though i must say… from that commercial that minegishi was on, that the dancing for flying get is hard and looks really good if you’re good at dancing like minegishi. the commercial is the one where minegishi’s face is pasted on all the akb members faces in the MV. I feel like watching your idols grow and you support them and cheer them on which helps them grow…. that is a good concept all in all it’s just… akb48 as  far as singing/dancing it’s not as good as other groups and… i just don’t like how in japan mediocrity is tolerated or wanted or alluring…. whatever the word or vibe I’m getting.  I thought mediocricy was a word but apparently it’s not according to firefox spelll checker!

OH AND I love my immortal song as always! do try watching especially if you hate american idol lol…. with their boring, soulless, shallow singing. not to the mention the songs that are overused/sang to death that no one ever wants to hear again.

hate Lea Michele’s voice! lol. No seriously, she always reaches this note when she sings those ballads and it makes me go wow I hate her voice. Half the time when she sings I usually fast-forward/skip since she always sings ballads. But it all comes to the song (most of the songs they sing that came out in the last a few years are usually the crappy sogns that I cannnot take at all but I must say the gotta get down on friday song was just fun to watch in that prom episode  and I didn’t mind — some how). I just don’t like her voice and her ballad singing is….不感症極まりない in other words I’ve become numb to it VERY VERY QUICKLY> I was so flipping happy last year’s season 1 finale when they let santana and brittany and quinn sing. It’s so nice to hear other types of voices not to mention I like their voices better than lea michele’s voice irregardless them just letting lea michele every episode (billin ballds) Anyways out of season 2 there were a few songs I REALLY liked that they sang. Let me just say sometimes the song they choose to sing on the show are just NOO for me and I fast-forward without any hesitation (ex. that NEW YORK Song in the premire. Gawd Ihate that song) and some are just boring and i fastforward.

Oh and I love how we saw more outfits/fashion from the 3 girls this season… makes it more fun to watch 😀

I’m jsut gonna post about 2 songs that stood out this season. By all means there are more but I didn’t jot down this episode, this character sang this (but none of those songs are sang by rachel’s character obviously) that I liked when i was watching the eps.

I love her version. I tried listenign to amy winsehouse’s version but it was so boring. so i’m really happy she covered song sorta like how adele coverd lovesong. I love adele’s so much better than the original, and that other version that is well known. I heard she’s (santana’s actress) having an album come out. and I would totally be excited depending on the genre and whether they will have stupid guest appearances (in other words music celerbities that have no talent but fame ex. rappers)
